There are two releases scheduled to be published on Sept. 6.


Release: The August 31st report by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights outlines in alarming details the human rights violations and abuses occurring in Xinjiang. It concludes that “the extent of arbitrary and discriminatory detention of members of the Uyghur and predominantly Muslim groups… may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity," and that “serious human rights violations have been committed" in Xinjiang.

Former West Virginia Police Officer and Firefighter Sentenced for Sexual Assault of a Minor

News Release: Christopher Osborne, 26, a former firefighter and police officer, was sentenced today in federal court in Charleston, West Virginia, to 14 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and registration as a sex offender under the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Osborne previously pleaded guilty to violating the civil rights of a minor victim by forcibly raping her in a bunk room at the Danville Fire Department in Danville, West Virginia.

News Release: United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that a Rapid City, South Dakota, man convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person was sentenced on Aug. 29, 2022, by Judge Jeffrey L. Viken, U.S. District Court.


News Release: Vanessa Roberts Avery, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and David Sundberg, Special Agent in Charge of the New Haven Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announced that LAMONT BETHEA, 31, of Hamden, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport to fraud offenses.

News Release: Orlando, Florida - United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announces the return of an indictment charging Tulio Ivan Figueroa-Carrion (34, Tampa) with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. If convicted, Figueroa-Carrion faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison. The indictment also notifies Figueroa-Carrion that the United States intends to forfeit the cellphone used to commit the alleged offense.
