Developers are cancelling the Keystone XL Pipeline months after U.S. President Joe Biden revoked their permit.

This follows years of conflict with the U.S. Department of the Interior.

This was verified by TC Energy after a thorough review of the options available and vigorous meetings with its partner, and the Government of Alberta.

"Developer officially cancels the Keystone XL Pipeline project blocked by Biden," said international lawyer Jean Paul Kasusula in a post to his Twitter account on June 15. "A $9 billion oil pipeline that became a symbol of the rising political clout of climate change advocates and a flashpoint in U.S.-Canada relations was officially canceled."

According to The Day, the Keystone XL Pipeline project may be the most rigorously reviewed project in the history of oil pipelines in the United States. In 2011, after examining 15,500 pages of reports and records and environmental impact accounts, the State Department concluded the Keystone XL could be built harmlessly and would have no impact on greenhouse gas emanations or contribute to climate change. Construction on the pipeline project had already been suspended following Biden's revocation of the Presidential Permit to approve construction on Jan. 21 of this year.
