Public notices: Transportation Department publishes 20 in week ending Sept. 5

There were 20 notices published by the Transportation Department in week ending Sept. 5, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, Agency Information Collection Activities; Revision of an Approved Information Collection Request: Commercial Driver Licensing and Test Standards, was submitted on Sept. 3, 2021.

The Transportation Department published 10 the week before, marking a 100.0 percent increase.

The Department handles nearly all infrastructure crisscrossing the country. Downsizing the Federal Government, a project aimed at lowering taxes and boosting federal efficiency, said the Department should be privatized to save money, reduce congestion and spur innovation.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
