The CBT was developed through a cooperative agreement with the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) and can be obtained by visiting the “Products” tab on their website at http://www.socp.us/ Contact: Kim Strong 202-366-5067.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued a safety advisory notifying the public of unsafe fire extinguishers. Always Safe Fire Extinguisher and Safety, LLC (ASFES) of Yonkers, New York, marked an unknown number of high-pressure, compressed-gas cylinders with unauthorized markings. These cylinders could rupture, as they were not tested to the Hazardous Materials Regulations standards. Prior to refilling or continued use, the cylinders must be checked by a DOT-authorized cylinder requalifier to ensure their suitability for continued service. A list of authorized requalifiers may be obtained at this website: http://www.phmsa.dot.gov/hazmat/regs/sp-a/approvals/cylinders.
