BTS Releases 2015 Border Crossing/Entry Data - The U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) has released 2015 Border Crossing/Entry Data . The database includes numbers of personal vehicles, incoming trucks, trains, buses, containers and pedestrians entering the United States through land ports and ferry crossings on the U.S.-Canada and U.S.-Mexico border. Collection of border-crossing data began in response to implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994. The data allow tracking of cross-border traffic and are used for transportation planning, port studies, travel analyses, and corridor assessments. Border Crossing/Entry Data from 1995 to 2015 can be found on the BTS website . To provide additional information about BTS Border Crossing/Entry Data, BTS has scheduled a webinar for Tuesday, Apr. 26, at 1:30 p.m., titled, BTS Border Crossing/Entry and Transborder Data: A Regional Perspective . The webinar will examine the “what, why, and how” of Transborder Data collection and analysis by BTS, how BTS data products are utilized for regional cross-border planning and analysis, and how BTS datasets can integrate and dynamically populate regional online research tools. BTS’ National Transportation Statistics Updated - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today updated the National Transportation Statistics (NTS) – a web-only reference guide to national transportation data. NTS, updated quarterly, consists of more than 260 tables of national data on the U.S. transportation system , safety , the economy and energy and the environment , of which 44 were updated today.
