The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Transportation on Sept. 1, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

DOT Finalizes its Haneda Selections. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today finalized its July 20th tentative decision providing for new, more favorable daytime services to Tokyo’s downtown Haneda Airport (HND). The selected carriers and cities are American Airlines at Los Angeles (LAX), Delta Air Lines at Los Angeles (LAX) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP), Hawaiian Airlines at Honolulu (HNL), and United Airlines at San Francisco (SFO). Currently, Haneda service is available only during nighttime hours at Los Angeles, Honolulu, and San Francisco. The Minneapolis/St. Paul service to Haneda is new. The daytime Haneda rights resulted from successful U.S.-Japan negotiations completed in February 2016. In addition to the five daytime opportunities, the February agreement also gave the U.S. one additional nighttime opportunity at Haneda. DOT awarded that opportunity in May, approving Hawaiian’s uncontested application for nighttime service to Haneda at Kona (KOA) and Honolulu (HNL). Most of the new Haneda services could begin as early as Oct. 30, 2016. The final decision and other documents in the case are available online at www.regulations.gov, docket DOT-OST-2016-0048.
