U.S. Department of Transportation Statement on Senate FAA Reauthorization Bill

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Transportation on June 22, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation released the following statement regarding the FAA Reauthorization Bills introduced today in the U.S. Senate:

"We commend Chairman Thune and the Committee on a Senate FAA Reauthorization bill that provides a good basis for a safe operating national airspace system. However, without true air traffic control reform measures in the bill, our nation’s congested airspace will be unable to keep pace with growing demand. The traveling public deserves the best air traffic control system in the world and our airports and controllers need the support and predictable funding to make America the world leader in aviation. We look forward to a productive conference process during which the Administration’s air traffic control reform principles are given full consideration."
