BTS Releases Freight Facts and Figures 2017 - The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today released Freight Facts and Figures 2017 . This 12th edition is an in-depth report on the volume and value of freight flows in the United States; the extent, condition, and performance of the physical network over which freight moves; the economic conditions that generate freight movements; the industry that carries freight; and the safety, energy, and environmental implications of freight transportation. Freight Facts and Figures 2017 consists of 70 data tables and 32 figures, including 20 maps, in 108 pages . This report is intended to help decision-makers, planners, and the public understand the magnitude and importance of freight transportation to the economy.
