CARES Act Air Service Exemption for United Airlines

Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation is acting on the third request from United Airlines for exemption from the CARES Act airline service obligations announced in Order 2020-4-2. After the Department denied its previous requests for limited relief to Sun Valley, Idaho, United provided additional information clarifying the seasonality of its Sun Valley services. Upon review of the additional information, the Department approved United’s request to allow the carrier to align the start/stop dates of its Sun Valley service with the periods during which it conducted its Sun Valley service last year. The request and the Notice of Action Taken can be found on www.regulations.gov by searching “Docket-DOT-OST-2020-0037.” The Department continues to review additional requests for exemption as well as the comments being submitted in the docket.
