CONSIDERATION OF THE SENATE AMENDMENT TO CONTINUING APPROPRIATIONS RESOLUTION, 2014; AND PAY OUR MILITARY ACT

Committee on Rules: Full Committee held a hearing on consideration of the Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 59, Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2014; and H.R. 3210, the ``Pay Our Military Act''. The Committee granted, by record vote of 8-4, a rule, which provides for consideration of the Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 59. The rule makes in order a motion offered by the chair of the Committee on Appropriations or his designee that the House concur in the Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 59 with each of the two amendments printed in the Rules Committee report. The rule provides one hour of debate on the motion equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Appropriations. The rule provides that the Senate amendment and the motion shall be considered as read. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the motion. The rule provides that the question of adoption of the motion shall be divided between the two House amendments. In Section 2, the rule provides a closed rule for H.R. 3210. The rule provides 40 minutes of debate equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Appropriations. The rule waives all points of order against consideration of the bill and provides that it shall be considered as read. The rule waives all points of order against provisions in the bill. The rule provides one motion to recommit. Testimony was heard from Chairman Rogers (KY); and Representatives Lowey; DeLauro; Wasserman Schultz; Jackson Lee; Gohmert; and Moran.
