Mr. CRAIG. Mr. President, I would like to announce for the information of the Senate and the public that a hearing originally scheduled before the Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on Wednesday, June 16th, at 2:30 p.m. in room SD-366 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building, has been indefinitely postponed.
The purpose of the hearing was to receive testimony on: 1. the grounding of multi-engine fire-retardant aircraft, 2. steps the Forest Service and Department of the Interior have taken to provide alternative aerial support for initial attack and extended attack fire fighting operations in the short run, and 3. the feasibility and desirability of designing and implementing an inspection process to allow the use of multi-engine fire-retardant aircraft in the future.
