Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - A former Pennsylvania resident currently living in North Carolina was ordered June 22 to pay more than $11,700 in restitution to his company’s pension plan, a fine of $3,000 and a $50 special assessment.

Scott L. Stover, formerly of Bern Township, a suburb of Reading, also was sentenced to serve five years’ probation including four months of home confinement for embezzling assets of the employee benefit plan covered by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

Stover, owner of the now defunct Mel Dietrich Electrical Construction, Inc. of Sinking Springs, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty Dec. 18, 2000 to embezzling approximately $22,000 from the company’s retirement plan while he and his wife were trustees.

The sentence was handed down in federal district court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The sentencing resulted from an investigation conducted by the Philadelphia Regional Office of the Labor Department’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration.
