ERISA Advisory Council to meet March 16

WASHINGTON — The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council , will meet on March 16, 2016, at the U.S. Department of Labor’s headquarters at 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Room S-2508, Washington, D.C. 20210. The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. eastern.

The purpose of the meeting, which is open to the public, is to welcome new council members, introduce the council chair and vice chair, receive an update from the Employee Benefits Security Administration , and set the topics for the council’s consideration in 2016.

Section 512 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act provides for the establishment of the ERISA Advisory Council, which advises the secretary of labor and submits recommendations regarding the secretary's functions under ERISA.
