WASHINGTON—Commerce Deputy Secretary David A. Sampson today released the following statement on the GDP report which showed the economy grew at 4.3 percent in the third quarter: “Today's release of a new GDP estimate is another reason for strong optimism in our economy. The spending and investing decisions behind our robust GDP expansion show growing confidence in our resilient economy. Our fundamental strengths allow the U.S. economy to power through hurricanes and high energy costs. President Bush’s policies have delivered results and maintained the economy’s momentum.”
