WASHINGTON—U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez today released the following statement on the GDP report which showed the economy grew at 4.1 percent in the third quarter: “Measures of the state of our economy are full of holiday cheer. Today’s GDP is more proof that businesses are booming and investors are confident. The U.S. economy demonstrated its resilience in the last several months. We can be proud that both American consumers and businesses are fueling our economy’s strength. In order to keep this momentum going, we need to continue to maintain the President’s course of keeping taxes low and reigning in federal spending.”
