WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Commerce today released new travel data that shows international visitors spent more than $10 billion in the United States in June 2007, an all time high for the month of June, putting the U.S. on track for another record setting year.
“The continuous, positive increase in arrivals and spending underscores the strength of the U.S. as a tourism destination,” said Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez. “This expansion is encouraging for the travel and tourism industry, which remains a key fixture of our economy. At this growth rate, the U.S. will set a new record for traveler spending in 2007.” Highlights of June 2007 International Arrivals to the United States http://www.tinet.ita.doc.gov/view/m-2007-I-001/index.html.
