Yesterday the Commerce Department lost a member of its extended family with the passing of former Secretary Robert A. Mosbacher. After a distinguished career in the private sector, Mr. Mosbacher served at the Commerce Department from 1989-1992, where he was a trusted advisor to President George H.W. Bush and a prominent advocate for the expansion of trade around the world. His leadership and his generosity of spirit are remembered by the many Commerce employees who served under him and continue to serve at the department today. I extend my sincere condolences to his wife, Michele, and his children.
