Acting U.S. Commerce Secretary Rebecca Blank today thanked Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) on his years of important work to support American businesses and his tremendous service as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
“Chairman Rockefeller has been a tireless champion not only for the people of West Virginia but for the American business community,” said Acting Secretary Rebecca Blank. “Among his countless contributions over decades of public service, Jay has been a staunch advocate for U.S. manufacturing and job creation. He stewarded the reauthorization of the COMPETES Act of 2010 and led the Congressional effort to establish the Commerce Department’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program. Jay was also critical to helping mandate the creation of a nationwide first responder network that will ensure our firefighters, police officers, and EMS workers have the tools they need to keep us safe. I want to thank Jay for his dedication to this country, his leadership on the Senate Commerce Committee and his strong support of this administration and the Department.”
