Statement: U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo On Her Meeting With The U.S. Travel Association

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Commerce on March 24. It is reproduced in full below.

Following her meeting with American travel and tourism CEOs convened by the U.S. Travel Association, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo released the following statement: “COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on the travel and tourism industry and has hurt far too many local economies, working people, and businesses. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the Biden-Harris Administration is poised to deliver much needed help to these communities through economic relief and increased resources to rein in the COVID-19 pandemic – which has caused this economic crisis.

I am committed to bringing a whole of Commerce approach to travel and tourism-related issues, and I look forward to engaging agencies across the Federal government in efforts to accelerate a safe recovery and ensure that we have a stronger platform for long-term growth.”
