The following is attributable to Spokesperson Ned Price: Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today in Jerusalem with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi. The Secretary and Foreign Minister expressed their support for the ceasefire and agreed to continue diplomatic engagements with partners who have a common interest in supporting efforts to advance peace and security for all. They exchanged views on Iran, and the Secretary underscored the United States’ strong commitment to Israel’s security and the U.S.-Israel partnership. The Secretary emphasized the need for Israelis and Palestinians to be able to live in safety and security, as well as enjoy equal measures of freedom, security, prosperity, and democracy.
