Republic of Cyprus National Day

On behalf of the United States of America, I would like to congratulate the people of the Republic of Cyprus as you celebrate the 61st anniversary of your nation’s independence. The growing economic, cultural, and educational exchanges between our citizens reflect the strong partnership that exists between our two countries. In the coming year, we look forward to continuing to strengthen and broaden our bilateral relationship and security cooperation. The United States remains fully committed to a UN-facilitated, Cypriot-led comprehensive settlement to reunify the island as a bizonal, bicommunal federation so that all Cypriots may live in greater peace and prosperity.
