U.S. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT TO HOLD SECOND ANNUAL PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS CONFERENCE IN PHILADELPHIA, PA

MEDIA ADVISORY WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2003 WWW.USDOJ.GOV AG (202) 514-2008 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON, D.C.- The U.S. Department of Justice will host the 2003 National Project Safe Neighborhoods Conference in Philadelphia, PA from January 30 – February 1. The second annual conference will focus on reducing gun crimes and will host representatives from the Justice Department, U.S. Attorneys Offices, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National District Attorneys' Association, and Project Safe Neighborhoods Teams from across the country.

Attorney General John Ashcroft will deliver the luncheon address Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. EST in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel, and will have a media availability with ATF Acting Director Bradley Buckles following his speech at 1:30 p.m. EST in Room 501 of the Marriott. Five sessions of the conference will be open to television and print media. President George W. Bush (invited) will address the audience through a video-message prior to the Conference Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 31 at 11:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom.
