The following press release was published by the US Department of Justice on July 1, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY, JULY 1, 2003 WWW.USDOJ.GOV TAX (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON, D.C. - A federal court in St. Joseph, Missouri today permanently barred Jameson, Missouri resident Randall Brian Jarvis from organizing or selling abusive tax shelters, plans, programs, or arrangements; making false statements about the allowability of any tax deduction or credit; and instructing taxpayers to understate their federal income tax liabilities. The court also directed Jarvis to provide a copy of today’s order to all of his customers and to provide the government with a list of those customers.

According to papers filed by the Justice Department, Jarvis sets up sham trusts and limited liability companies for his clients and then purports to instruct his clients in how to use these sham entities to hide income and assets from the IRS. Although Jarvis allegedly charges his clients for these “services,” the IRS has assessed more than $2 million in back taxes against his clients.

“Tax scammers enrich themselves by helping others violate the law,” said Eileen J. O’Connor, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Justice Department’s Tax Division. “The Justice Department and IRS are taking vigorous action to shut down these scammers and the schemes they promote.” According to Justice Department filings, Jarvis also uses the names Order of Jesus Christ’s Disciples, Order of Christian Disciples, and Christian Disciples International.
