ATTORNEY GENERAL JOHN ASHCROFT TO APPOINT SPECIAL ATTORNEY TO LOOK INTO UNITED STATES VS. KOUBRITI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2004 WWW.USDOJ.GOV OPA (202) 514-2007 TDD (202) 514-1888 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General John Ashcroft today appointed Craig S. Morford as a Special Attorney to the United States Attorney General to look into matters relating to United States vs. Koubriti.

Morford is authorized (pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 515) to file informations and to conduct in the Eastern District of Michigan any kind of legal proceedings, civil or criminal, including Grand Jury proceedings and proceedings before United States Magistrates which United States Attorneys are authorized to conduct.

This appointment is effective from Feb. 27, 2004 through Mar. 1, 2005, unless extended. Morford will report to and act under the direction of the Deputy Attorney General. 04-122
