U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s Activities at COP26

GLASGOW, Scotland – Today, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg participated in several events at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. He met with 10 Ministers of Transport to discuss climate action in their countries and their visions for transportation and reducing emissions, held bilateral meetings, and participated in a dinner hosted by the Atlantic Council.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 10, Secretary Buttigieg will participate in several public events at COP26:

* Coming Back Greener: Clean Transportation

8:30-9:00 a.m. EST (1:30-2:00 p.m. Glasgow time)

Secretary Buttigieg will participate in a fireside chat with The Nature Conservancy’s Chief Scientist Katharine Hayhoe. The two will discuss climate communications, infrastructure resilience, how the transportation sector can contribute to reducing emissions, and the relationship between climate change and social equity.

* Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA)

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EST (4:30-5:30 p.m. Glasgow time)

Secretary Buttigieg will give remarks at the SABA event recognizing the important role that groups like this play to scale up demand for low carbon technologies and solutions, and to support the increased use of sustainable aviation fuels.
