WASHINGTON, March 9, 2015 — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today issued the following statement: "Today, we celebrate the life of Larry Scanlon. Larry was a fierce advocate for working families. He was a man with a great sense of balance who approached every challenge with equal parts passion and practicality. Larry had "sizzle" in spades. My wife, Christie, and I are honored to have called Larry our friend.

"USDA has lost not only a friend, but a family member. Our thoughts are with Larry's wife, Margaret, Larry's daughter, Sarah, who is part of the team here at USDA, and all of Larry's family and many friends." # USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
