Statement From Secretary Napolitano Remembering 2005 London Bombings

The following press release was published by the US Department of Homeland Security on July 7, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

For Immediate Release Office of the Press Secretary Contact: 202-282-8010 “Today, we remember the 52 men and women who perished in the London bombings of July 7, 2005. In the four years since this heinous act of terrorism - which took the lives of individuals from more than a dozen countries - additional attacks have been thwarted in the UK and beyond, reminding us of the threat that remains. While in London just a week ago, I had the privilege of viewing the memorial that was unveiled in Hyde Park today. This new memorial honors those we mourn and reminds us of the need for vigilance against violent extremism in all its forms.”
