Statement By Press Secretary Marsha Catron On Secretary Johnson’s Upcoming Trip To El Salvador And Honduras

For Immediate Release DHS Press Office Contact: 202-282-8010 On May 19-20, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will travel to El Salvador and Honduras for meetings and engagements regarding current migration trends in Central America.

Secretary Johnson will travel to San Salvador, El Salvador, and then Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras. In both countries, he will observe the arrival of repatriation flights and reintegration efforts, engage with regional partners to highlight law enforcement cooperation to address violence and the other underlying causes of illegal migration, reinforce the Department’s message that our borders are not open to illegal migration, and continue to highlight the dangers of the journey.
