Statement By Acting Deputy Secretary Russell C. Deyo On Sustaining Clean Audit For Fourth Year

The following press release was published by the US Department of Homeland Security on Nov. 15, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

For Immediate Release Office of the Press Secretary Contact: 202-282-8010 For a fourth consecutive year, the Department of Homeland Security has earned a clean audit opinion, marking another milestone in our financial management practices.

Ensuring financial integrity for the third largest Department in the federal government, with 22 components, 230,000 employees, and a 60 billion dollar budget is no small feat. The Department remains committed to maintaining effective controls over its financial reporting, and the clean audit opinion demonstrates the hard work by our talented and dedicated financial team, led by Chief Financial Officer Chip Fulghum. This level of teamwork across multiple business areas such as finance, IT, procurement, human capital and asset management reflects the Unity of Effort initiative that makes our Department successful. I am proud of this accomplishment, and all of the good work by the men and women of DHS who support our homeland security mission.
