Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas spoke by videoconference on Monday, March 15 with Germany’s Federal Minister of the Interior, Horst Seehofer. Secretary Mayorkas and Minister Seehofer discussed the close partnership between Germany and the Department of Homeland Security and opportunities for enhancing the bilateral relationship. During the conversation, they exchanged views on the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, international terrorism, domestic violent extremism, cybersecurity, and irregular migration. Secretary Mayorkas and Minister Seehofer recognized the importance of transatlantic homeland security cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of our citizens and expressed their commitment to working together to advance our mutual priorities.
