Two Atlanta gang members plead guilty to federal racketeering charges

Two Atlanta men who are members of a national gang called Nine Trey Gangster have pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges, a news release said.

Khajavius Mitchell, aka KJ, 28, and Devonta Marshall, aka Street Monsta, 27, pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy for "planning, facilitating, and executing multiple acts of violence and participating in the gang’s drug trafficking activities," the U.S. Justice Department said.

“The Nine Trey Gangsters (NTG) are a national gang that started in the prisons of New York as a subset of the United Bloods Nation and has since spread throughout the East Coast and Southeast," the news release said. "The NTG’s members and associates engage in acts of violence, including murder, assaults, robbery, firearms possession, witness tampering, obstruction of justice, drug trafficking, extortion, and other criminal activities.”

Mitchell held the rank of ‘fourth floor’ in the gang, assisting ‘fifth floor’ members in running the gang’s daily activities. Marshall had the rank of ‘first floor,’ the Justice Department said. Both were members of the gang’s ‘fire line,’ responsible for organizing attacks on rivals, the release said.

The men face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Six other members plead guilty to similar charges, according to a separate release. The Federal Bureau and of Investigation continues to investigate the case through the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the release said.

"A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors," the Justice Department said.
