Secretary Jewell to Announce Proposed Program for Five Year Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program - Archive

WASHINGTON – Today, Tuesday, March 15, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will discuss the Proposed Program for the Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2017-2022. This is one step in a multi-step process to determine the size, timing and location of proposed leasing activity to best meet national energy needs, while addressing a range of economic, environmental and social considerations.

The Interior Department received more than a million comments on the Draft Proposed Program , released in January 2015. The Proposed Program will be made available for additional public comment, which the Interior Department will use to help inform the final Five-Year Program.
