WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette is in Birmingham, Alabama to participate in a panel discussion with U.S. Ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell at the Alabama Economic Growth Summit. They will discuss how America’s energy renaissance has provided jobs and opportunity for Americans across the country, while also strengthening U.S. energy security. This growth has also helped America’s allies around the world bolster their energy security by providing a diversity of energy supply to the global market.
While in Alabama, the Deputy Secretary will also tour Alabama Power’s Smart Neighborhood, a residential community that incorporates energy efficient appliances, connected devices, innovative security systems, more home automation, and a community microgrid. The Department of Energy has worked with Alabama Power to develop and deploy this community’s transactive micro grid approach. The homes built in this community are 50-60% more efficient than a standard home.
