State-by-state fact sheets released by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) highlight how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is improving transportation options across the country, a Nov. 18 DOT press release said.
"The once-in-a-generation investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will improve people's lives in every state in the nation by increasing access to safe, clean, reliable transportation,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.
Funding granted to each state is linked individually in the press release on transportation.gov. Each fact sheet breaks down the amount a state can expect to receive, as well as outlines projects the state will undertake with the funding.
The Infrastructure Law provides up to $108 billion divided amongst states for transportation projects, a Nov. 15 DOT release said. Of this amount, $91 million has been set aside for public transportation. The funding will also help in responding to climate change by repairing or replacing older vehicles to significantly lower emissions.
"Long-overdue investments in transit infrastructure will deliver new and expanded public transit services, especially in communities that have suffered from historical funding inequities,” FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez said in the Nov. 15 release.
Approximately $193 million has also been dedicated to transit research activities and $62 million towards workforce development and technical assistance, the release said. Up to $23 billion will be given to the Capital Investment Grants CIG Program, within which $8 billion will be set towards those high-capacity transit projects that the communities decide to give their consent to.
