All Trails at Sitka NHP Now Open

No recent bear activity has been observed since December 6th at 4:41am. All trails are now open for regular winter hours: 7:00am – 8:00pm through May 14, 2022.

After 8:00pm pedestrians may pass through the section of trail between Sawmill Creek Rd., over the Indian River footbridge, and to or from the upper Visitor Center parking lot, but may not loiter. All other portions of the trail system and grounds are closed before and after grounds hours.

Visitors should continue to be bear aware, as bears may be present at any time in the park.

For additional information visit the park’s web page or call the Visitor Center at (907) 747-0110.

Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local public health authorities, we are increasing access and services in a phased approach across all units of the National Park System. Before visiting a park, please check the park website to determine its operating status. Updates about the overall NPS response to COVID-19 including safety information, are posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
