Recreate Responsibility, a product of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), offers tips to make a visit to a national park fun and safe for all.

“Your adventures don’t have to stop when the weather gets cold,” the BLM posted on its Twitter account. “Plan ahead and bring plenty of water, food, and warm layers to keep you safe.”

Recreate Responsibility is a coalition of more than 1,600 government agencies, nonprofit organizations, individuals, and businesses that seek to enhance the benefits of nature. There are regional and state chapters in Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Colorado, and North Carolina.

In its winter newsletter, Recreate Responsibility offered safety tips like "leave no trace," "make it better," "know before you go," and "build an inclusive outdoors." Each tip offers adice along with additional details to make the outdoors a better place and create a better experience, according to the National Parks Conservation Association website.

The association encourages people to plan for a possible extra day of activity, become familiar with their surrounding communities and areas they would like to visit and to stay hydrated.
