The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) has recently released three new publications in support of its mission to advance transportation innovation for the public good.

2021 ANNUAL PROJECT ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Each year, the U.S. DOT Volpe Center summarizes our best work from the past year as we work to transform transportation for all. Carried out in partnership with U.S. DOT and key stakeholders, these programs and initiatives advance U.S. DOT’s strategic priorities of safety, infrastructure, transformation, climate change, resilience, and transportation equity.

INNOVATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE, EQUITABLE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

For its 2021 thought leadership series, the U.S. DOT Volpe Center brought thousands of people from around the world together virtually for its annual thought leadership series. “Innovation for a Sustainable, Equitable Transportation System” featured prominent transportation professionals across public and private sectors and academia, including U.S. DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

ENERGY TRANSITION IN TRANSPORT

Since 1998, the U.S. DOT Volpe Center has cooperated with the Royal Netherlands Embassy and its Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management—Rijkswaterstatt—to exchange information, expertise, and innovative ideas. This year’s exchange took place virtually in December 2021, with a focus on energy needs and supply in transportation, social equity in transportation, as well as collaboration and governance.
