Robin Hutcheson, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Safety Policy for the U.S. Department of Transportation, is the new Deputy Administrator for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the DOT announced recently. oro
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced the appointment Jan. 19 on the DOT website. As Deputy Administrator, Hutcheson will serve also as Acting Administrator of the FMCSA, according to DOT. She replaces former DA Meera Joshi, who left the DOT to become the Deputy Mayor of Operations for New York City, according to the announcement.
Hutcheson was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Safety Policy since January 2021, the announcement states. "In this role she led safety policy for the Department, and coordinated other critical efforts, including COVID-19 response and recovery. She was instrumental in the development of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, especially the new Safe Streets and Roads for All program."
Prior to joining the Biden-Harris Administraion, Hutcheson served as Director of Public Works in Minneapolis. Before Minneapolis, she was Transportation Director in Salt Lake City, Utah and a transportation and transit consultant in the western U.S., in London and France, and for the European Union Commission on Sustainability, according to DOT.
