Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today made the following remarks regarding reports that the Environmental Protection Agency sent an e-mail to staff concerning procedures for responding to inquiries from the press, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the EPA's own Inspector General:

Senator Boxer said: "Stephen Johnson is turning the EPA into a secretive, dangerous ally of polluters, instead of a leader in the effort to protect the health and safety of the American people."
