The following news release was published by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Work on Jan. 31, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement in response to a bill introduced today by Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) that would undermine landmark environmental laws that protect the public from carbon pollution:

Senator Boxer said: "Since President Nixon signed the Clean Air Act in 1970, Republicans and Democrats in Congress have worked together to protect American families from dangerous pollution. The Republican effort now to turn their back on the health of the American people will be resisted by those of us who believe it is our responsibility to make life better for the people we serve."
