EPW Committee Approves Two Nuclear Regulatory Commission Nominations

Washington, D.C.- In a bipartisan vote, the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee today approved the nominations of Jeffery M. Baran and Stephen G. Burns to be Members of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The nominations will now go to the full Senate for consideration.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, said: "I believe the nominees that were approved by the EPW Committee today are highly qualified, and their commitment to NRC's mission will increase the level of confidence the American people have in the safety of the nation's nuclear facilities. I look forward to moving these nominations quickly through the full Senate."
