Senator Boxer’s Statement on EPA’s Groundbreaking Report Comparing Action Versus No Action to Address Climate Change

The following news release was published by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Work on June 22, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the statement below after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a groundbreaking, peer-reviewed report on the threat that climate change poses to the American people. The report compared the impacts of taking steps to reduce dangerous carbon pollution, versus allowing unchecked climate change to occur, which will increase global temperatures.

Senator Boxer said: "EPA's new peer-reviewed report shows in stark terms what the impacts will be on public health and the nation's economy if we don't take steps now to address dangerous climate change. This report demonstrates that we simply cannot afford to allow unmitigated climate change to occur, and I fully support President Obama's efforts to reduce harmful carbon pollution."
