Washington, D.C. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement on President Obama's announcement that the U.S. and China have jointly made new domestic policy commitments to address climate change and reduce dangerous carbon pollution. Under this agreement, China has committed to launching a domestic cap and trade system to curb carbon emissions.
Senator Boxer said: "With the Paris negotiations just a few months away, this joint agreement between the two biggest emitters of carbon pollution, the U.S. and China, is a very positive step forward. Between this and the Pope's strong statements on climate change, I feel there is forward momentum to rescue our planet."
