WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement after the Senate's procedural vote on H. J. Res. 36, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) joint resolution of disapproval of the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) final rule on methane emissions from oil and gas sources on federal and Indian land.
“I call on Interior Secretary Zinke to withdraw the rule immediately," said Barrasso. “If left in place, this regulation will only discourage energy production, job creation, and economic opportunity across the West. The state of Wyoming and other leading energy producing states already regulate methane emissions. We don't need this duplicative rule."
