WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement after a bipartisan briefing with top Trump administration officials on infrastructure. The meeting included Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, and senators from the EPW committee.
“Today's meeting was a great opportunity to discuss the Trump administration's plans for upgrading America's aging highways, bridges, ports, and dams," said Barrasso. “This infrastructure is critical to our country's success.
“The meeting gave senators the chance to have a direct back-and-forth with administration leadership on their priorities. I want to thank Secretary Chao and Director Cohn for accepting the committee's invitation to come meet with us today, and for partnering with the Senate as we continue this process of addressing our nation's infrastructure."

Barrasso has made addressing America's aging infrastructure a priority for the EPW committee. In the past year, the committee has held eight hearings on how best to modernize America's infrastructure, the need to streamline government approvals for vital projects, and how to ensure that rural communities are a priority.
