Chairman Barrasso Statement on EPA Action Plan on PFAS

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Work on Feb. 14, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Action Plan.

“Local communities and state regulators from across the country as well as members of Congress are concerned about PFAS pollution," said Barrasso. “The Environmental Protection Agency's PFAS plan is only a first step. As I have said before, EPA must speak clearly about the risk that this class of chemicals poses to public health and the environment. The agency must be willing to take decisive action where it is warranted. Industry and the Department of Defense must also play a constructive role. This spring, the committee will hold a hearing on EPA's plan, which will give the administration an opportunity to testify on its proposed course of action."
