WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released the following statement on the Trump administration beginning the formal process for the United States to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement.
“I applaud President Trump for starting the official process to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement," said Barrasso. “The Paris agreement was a bad deal for America. It would have hurt our economy and put us at a competitive disadvantage versus other countries. Free market innovation - not crippling global agreements - will help reduce global carbon emissions and address climate change."

On March 29, 2017, Barrasso called for the United States to pull out of the Paris climate agreement entirely in an op-ed in the Washington Times titled: “Toward a Better Climate Sans Paris."
