A Columbia County, OR man will spend 27 years in federal prison and a life term of supervised release for recording the repeated rape and abuse of a child over a five-year period.
According to a Jan. 25 news release from the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon, Anthony Wayne Dewey, 60, also secretly recorded a second child using the bathroom.
“Our hearts break for the children tragically abused and exploited in this and every case of child exploitation,” Scott Erik Asphaug, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, said in the news release. “We offer each of them this message: this experience will not define you. You are bigger and stronger than your abuser. You will grow to lead an extraordinary life of meaning and purpose.”

The news release, citing court records, said authorities received information about Dewey’s abuse of a child and a search warrant was executed. The release noted that videos were found that showed Dewey abusing a child, and the abuse took place over five years, from the time the child was four until the age of 11. The release also indicated that a hidden camera video was found showing a second child using the bathroom.
According to the release, Dewey was charged in 2018 with sexual exploitation of a child. Later that year, according to the release, he also was charged with two counts of exploiting a child. The abuse took place at his homes in Oregon and Washington state.
Dewey pleaded guilty to both charges.
