The Bureau of Reclamation recently selected Bart Deming as the next construction engineer and manager for the Upper Colorado Basin Region's Four Corners Construction Office, replacing Patrick “Pat” Page, who retired in January.
As the director of the Four Corners Construction Office (FCCO), Deming will oversee the construction of the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project (NGWSP), according to a Feb. 2 BOR press release. The NGWSP is a project that aims to bring a clean and stable water supply to the Navajo Nation, the Jicarilla Apache Nation, and the city of Gallup, New Mexico.
“I’m very excited and honored to take on the challenge of completing the NGWSP and to help fulfill the federal government’s trust responsibilities to the Navajo Nation with the implementation of this settlement by providing a critically needed drinking water supply to the Navajo people,” Deming said in the release.
Deming's promotion to manager comes after nearly a decade at the FCCO where he worked as a deputy construction engineer, the release stated. Deming joined the FCCO in April 2012 as a civil engineer. Since then, he has helped design, construct, and manage the NGWSP since the project began.
“Bart brings a wealth of experience from the field, specifically with the NGWSP,” said Upper Colorado Basin Regional Director Wayne Pullan in the release. “He is a strong and capable leader, ready to build upon the work of his predecessors.”
Deming said he is grateful for the promotion and the opportunities it will bring.
“It’s with great pride that I am able to continue to work together with the great staff in FCCO and our partners to improve people’s lives and opportunities by providing a resource most of us take for granted,” he said in the release.
Deming graduated with honors from Colorado State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, the release stated.
