The Occupational Safety and Health Administration awarded West Fargo its “star level” from its Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).
The manufacturer has shown to be proactive in the implementation of safety and health programs.
“The site has an exceptional orientation and training program that includes a week-long training process at a hands-on onsite learning lab where work hardening, tool safety, and ergonomics are a focus of this program,” Jennifer Rous, OSHA Regional Administrator in Denver, said in a release. “Designation as a Star Level in the Voluntary Protection Program is the highest safety achievement a company can earn from OSHA.”
West Fargo employs around 200 workers at its site, where custom wood patio doors and windows are assembled.
OSHA’s VPP aims to recognize employers that implement effective health and safety management systems and maintain work-related injuries and illness at rates below the national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their industries.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 featured an outline for OSHA’s VPP, the organization’s program about page reported.
Through VPP, OSHA, management, and labor collaborate to proactively prevent accidents in the workspace.
